How should schools evaluate student-data and FERPA requirements?
Browser-local processing can support FERPA-friendly practices because the media file is not uploaded for processing. Bleep does not certify FERPA compliance; schools must apply their own privacy, consent, record-status, retention, security, and vendor-review requirements. Studio uploads need separate institutional review.
Does this work on school Chromebooks?
Browser mode can work on capable Chromebooks with WebAssembly and Web Worker support. School policy, browser management, available memory, codecs, and network controls can affect access, so check with your administrator when required.
What about longer videos like full documentaries?
Browser mode is intended for supported short files up to about 10 minutes on capable desktops. Studio uploads the selected file, saves a project, and supports recordings up to 2 hours. A school should complete its own privacy, security, consent, retention, and vendor review before using either mode with student content.
How long does it take to censor a video?
Processing time varies with file length, device performance, browser support, model choice, and whether browser mode or Studio is used. Allow time to review the transcript and preview the export.
Can I create word lists for different grade levels?
Yes! You can create and save custom word lists that persist in your browser. Create separate lists for elementary, middle school, and high school content, then apply them with one click.
Does my school district need a special license?
Individual teachers can use the free browser-based tool without a license. Studio currently offers Free, Starter, and Pro accounts; schools should choose among those published plans and complete their own privacy, security, consent, and vendor review.
