FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this FERPA friendly? Is student data safe?

In browser mode, files never leave your device — all transcription and censoring happens locally. For longer content, optional cloud processing is available. Use browser mode for any content containing student data to maintain FERPA-friendly practices.

Does this work on school Chromebooks?

Yes! Bleep That Sh*t! is 100% browser-based. It works on Chromebooks, school-managed devices, and any computer with a modern web browser. No software installation or IT approval needed.

What about longer videos like full documentaries?

The free browser-based tool handles files up to 10 minutes, perfect for clips and short content. For longer videos, we offer an optional cloud processing tier that can handle feature-length content. Note: cloud processing involves uploading your file, so use browser mode for any content containing student data.

How long does it take to censor a video?

A typical 10-minute video takes about 2-3 minutes to process: upload, transcribe with AI, select words to censor, and download. Much faster than traditional video editing software.

Can I create word lists for different grade levels?

Yes! You can create and save custom word lists that persist in your browser. Create separate lists for elementary, middle school, and high school content, then apply them with one click.

Does my school district need a special license?

Individual teachers can use the free browser-based tool without any license. For district-wide deployment with volume licensing, annual billing, PO/invoice support, or cloud processing access, contact us at [email protected].
