Getting Started
How do I bleep out words in a video for free?
Upload your video to Bleep That Sh*t!, click "Transcribe" to generate an AI transcript with word-level timestamps, select words to censor, choose a bleep sound, and download. It takes under 5 minutes, requires no account, and is completely free for files up to 10 minutes.
What app bleeps out curse words?
Bleep That Sh*t! is a free browser-based tool that automatically detects and bleeps curse words in audio and video. It uses Whisper AI for transcription and lets you select words to censor with customizable bleep sounds. No app install needed — it runs in your web browser.
How do I add a censor beep to a video?
Upload your video, let the AI transcribe it, select the words to censor, then choose from 6 bleep sounds: classic TV beep (1kHz sine wave), brown noise, dolphin chirps, T-Rex roar, silence, or upload your own custom sound. Preview and download.
How do I mute swear words in a video?
Upload your video, let the AI detect every word with timestamps, select the swear words (or use a built-in profanity list to auto-select them), then choose "silence" as your bleep sound. The selected words will be muted while the rest of the audio stays intact.
Do I need to create an account?
No! You can use the free browser-based tool at /bleep without signing up. Creating an account gives you access to cloud processing for longer files and saving projects.
What's the difference between browser mode and cloud mode?
Browser mode processes everything on your device — completely private, no upload needed. Cloud mode uploads your file for faster processing of longer files (over 5 minutes).
Privacy & Security
Is my data private when I censor a video online?
With Bleep That Sh*t!, yes — in browser mode, all processing happens locally using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device. No upload, no cloud storage, no third-party access. Cloud mode encrypts files in transit and at rest.
Is this FERPA friendly for schools?
Browser mode is fully FERPA-friendly since no student data leaves the device. All transcription and censoring happens locally in the browser using WebAssembly. Cloud mode uses encrypted storage. Contact [email protected] for institutional compliance questions.
Pricing & Billing
How much does it cost?
Browser mode is completely free with no limits. Cloud mode comes with free minutes on signup, and premium plans start at $9/month (or $5/month for educators).
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, anytime. Go to Studio → Settings → Manage Billing to cancel through the Stripe portal. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period, and unused minutes transfer to your free balance.
Platforms & Monetization
Can YouTube detect profanity in my videos?
Yes — YouTube's automated systems scan audio for profanity and can restrict monetization, especially in the first 7 seconds. Bleeping profanity before upload protects your ad revenue while keeping your authentic style.
Will bleeping words keep my YouTube video monetized?
Yes. YouTube treats bleeped profanity as advertiser-friendly. By censoring swear words before uploading, your video avoids the yellow dollar sign (limited ads) and stays fully monetizable.
Does censoring profanity help on TikTok and Instagram?
TikTok and Instagram don't publicly confirm profanity penalties, but creators widely report that videos with profanity get reduced reach. Censoring swear words is a low-risk way to maximize distribution on both platforms.
Troubleshooting
My transcription failed. What should I do?
Try re-uploading your file. If the issue persists, convert your file to MP4 or MP3 format first. For very long files (over 2 hours), try splitting them into shorter segments.
Why is my bleep taking a long time?
Bleep processing time depends on file length. A 10-minute video typically takes 30-60 seconds. Longer files take proportionally longer. You can safely leave the page — we'll email you when it's done.
I'm getting 'Insufficient minutes remaining'. What does this mean?
You've used all your free cloud minutes. You can upgrade to a premium plan for more minutes, or use the free browser-based processing (no cloud minutes needed) on the /bleep page.
What file formats are supported?
We support MP4, MP3, WAV, WebM, OGG, M4A, FLAC, and most common audio/video formats. If your file isn't working, try converting it to MP4 (video) or MP3 (audio).
